In 2011, Maryland released its Comprehensive Strategy for Reducing Maryland’s Vulnerability to Climate Change Phase II: Building societal, economic, and ecological resilience. The first recommendation of that report was for the State to: Conduct vulnerability assessments to gain a better understanding of risks and inform preventative responses. In response, the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH)and the University of Maryland School of Public Health have developed the Maryland Climate and Health Profile. This profile is based on and developed in conjunction with the DHMH Maryland Public Health Strategy for Climate Change project, funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)as part of its Climate-Ready States and Cities Initiative.
