The California Natural Resources Agency wishes to invite you to participate in one of the upcoming 2017 Safeguarding California Workshops.
The Safeguarding California Plan: 2017 Update – California’s Climate Adaptation Strategy builds on nearly a decade of adaptation strategies, which includes the 2009 California Adaptation Strategy and the 2014 Safeguarding California. How we manage our water, grow our food, transport our goods, and live our daily lives has been built around the climate and weather we experience. We use a number of words, including adaptation, resilience, readiness, and safeguarding, to describe a simple concept: ensuring that people, communities, and natural systems are able to withstand the impacts of climate disruption.
The Safeguarding California Plan: 2017 Update is intended to communicate a clear accounting of current and needed actions state government should take to build climate change resiliency. We invite the public to provide input to this 2017 update the through these public workshops or directly to the Natural Resources Agency at climate@resources.ca.gov.
By drawing upon reliable, time-tested strategies today, tailored to what we learn from our communities across the state, we can increase resilience to the effects of climate change and mitigate the harmful impacts to future generations. Your experience and expertise would make your perspective invaluable to our workshop, so we invite you to be part of this cooperation.
A working draft of the 2017 update and a more detailed program will be sent in the near future, which will include final dates and locations for the Sierra Nevada and San Diego workshops.
We would like you to confirm your participation by contacting us at safeguardingCA@climateresolve.org. We hope to see you there.
